A re-print of several articles bound together in book form that originally ran in the early 1980's from Model Railroader magazine. The book follows the construction of the San Juan Central, a small-ish HOn3 railroad measuring around 9.5 ft. by 7.5 ft. This book (and the articles/author behind it), could perhaps be considered a cult classic, and was no doubt the inspiration behind many started-but-not finished personal San Juan Centrals. Despite the content being old, quite a lot of it remains relevant. The command control system discussed has been superseded by DCC and some of the models used, like the MDC 2-8-0 are no longer in production, but some of the methods the book uses, namely using foam for lightweight scenery and increasing model railroad real estate by increasing vertical scenery are still important aspects of railroad building. Many colour and B&W illustrations, plans, diagrams etc. 1984 Kalmbach Books. Card covers. Acceptable condition, tanning and wear to covers. 60pp. 39-ISNX-ZBT4
