This book is a mechanical and operational history of the 2-10-2 wheel arrangement locomotives, commonly called the Santa Fe type, that were used by the C&O. This wheel arrangement was uncommon on the C&O and all its locomotives of this type were purchased second or third hand. They mostly operated east of Charlottesville in Virginia with some exceptions. When the Pere Marquette Railway was merged into the C&O in 1947, its 17 2-10-2s were incorporated into the C&O's roster. They continued to operate in Michigan. All the 2-10-2s were retired and scrapped by 1952. Numerous B&W photographs, with maps, plans, drawings and other information. C&OHS 2019 New SB. 80pp. NOS-COH-S26
