The Great Western in the West Midlands fed its lines out from Birmingham (Snow Hill) station with the industrial areas around crossing over and under LMS routes going north and south. GWR Kings passed through to Wolverhampton where they were taken off their trains to be replaced by Castles and Halls for the journey to Shrewsbury. GWR trains arrived from Worcester and Hereford, and from Stratford-upon-Avon and Leamington. Birmingham (Snow Hill) closed in 1972 and this once fine station is now merely a car park. This book contains an excellent selection of black and white photographs of the area and has supplemented these with informative captions and detailed maps. 1984 Oxford Publishing. HB.
