Terms & Conditions
All books are offered for sale subject to availability, as we have several outlets for our products.
We are happy to take Credit/Debit card payments over the telephone. Just ring us on 01335 330965 with your requirements and we will try and send you your books on the same or next working day.
All items can be paid for immediately through PayPal using a credit card or a debit card. To pay by PayPal, please tick the "Credit Card/Sagepay" button at Checkout, which will activate PayPal. PayPal is very easy to use, secure, completely free and will not incur any additional costs. Your financial information is not shared with us. Once your payment is complete, PayPal will email you a receipt for the transaction. We despatch your item as soon as payment has cleared and will email you with delivery information.
We can also take payment by Bank Transfer (BACS). Please contact us for further details.
Please note: as from 19/3/18 we do not accept payment by cheque, due to the processing costs and the very limited demand for this method of paying.
Collection in person is also welcome from the above address by appointment. You can also collect from our trade stand at any of the events we attend by prior arrangement.

When shipping to the following UK areas or postcodes, parcels over 2kg will carry an extra charge, due to RM and Courier costs. Please contact us for further details before placing an order. We will do our best to send your parcel as economically as we can.

Some items posted will require a signature on delivery, as we use Royal Mail Recorded Service on some items. Other items may be sent Royal Mail 24 or 48. We also use Courier services such as DPD Local. and these will require a signature on receipt. Postage and Packaging are provided to our customers free of charge. Items are packed with great care. However, in the unlikely event that an item is damaged during transit, please contact us within 2 hours of receiving the item(s). A receipt with full details of your purchase will be included in your parcel, which may be useful for insurance purposes. Any request to mail any items to a third party is entirely at your own risk. It is only acceptable on the condition that Linda Tinker Railway Books are not in any way responsible for any loss or damage caused at any stage or transit and are not in any way to be involved in any investigation into such loss or damage.
We reserve the right to cancel orders at any time.
Books Not Delivered?
Occasionally, books are unable to be delivered, usually because the buyer is out, and no safe place has been designated for the postal worker or courier to leave the parcel. In this case the parcel will be taken back to the appropriate depot and a card left with instructions stating how you can get hold of it. If you do not collect the parcel or make arrangements for delivery, it should be returned to us eventually. In this case, you have a choice. 1) to have the books sent again, in which case we will charge you for postage at cost (both UK and International), or 2) to cancel the transaction, in which case we would refund the cost of the books only. For international customers who have paid a postage charge, this is not refundable.
The website does not allow international customers to purchase a book, due to the complex nature of postage overseas. If you would like to buy a book or books, please follow this simple procedure.
Email us at email@example.com stating which books you would like and confirm your shipping address. We will reserve and weigh the books and email you back with a quote to include postage to your chosen address. If you are happy with this we can either: send you a PayPal invoice for the total amount or you can telephone us with your credit card details. Your order will then be posted as soon as possible.
We use Royal Mail Air Mail International Signed For Service, Airsure or UPS on any items shipped overseas. Couriers have informed us that packages over 5kg cannot be delivered to PO Box Numbers, and a full address, home telephone number and mobile number will be required. This is a mandatory requirement of all couriers after Brexit, needed to contact the receiver where duties/tax are payable before delivery(1/1/21). For bulk purchases we are happy to arrange specialist courier services. Please note: an additional Customs Clearance Charge of £25 per box may apply to deliveries to the following European countries Bosnia, Iceland,Norway, Serbia and Switzerland.

AUSTRALIA: NEW INFORMATION (20/6/18)
Beginning July 1, 2018, Australia will implement legislation to impose Goods and Services Tax (GST) on imported goods that have a customs value of $1,000 AUD or less (Low Value Imported Goods or LVIG). Additional charges for shipping to Australia may be incurred as a result of this legislation.
USA & CANADA: NEW INFORMATION (26/10/20)
All mail being sent from the UK to USA & Canada is facing severe delays because of the impact of Covid-19 and record volumes of mail arriving in these countries.
Therefore, from today (26th October 2020), we will no longer ship to North America until further notice. This applies to orders made through our website and all our sales platforms. We apologise for having to take such drastic action, but having despatched orders some 6 months ago which are still undelivered or lost, we feel we have no alternative.
Important Changes to our Terms & Conditions for International Customers (27/8/20)
From today (27/8/20), there will be a minimum order amount of £25 for ALL International customers. This amount does not include shipping or postage costs. Orders under this amount will not be processed until the order reaches a minimum of £25.
This decision has been taken because the amount of administrative time needed to process International orders is ever increasing, now that Brexit is "done". Customs Declarations etc and increasing amounts of information are now required by shipping services worldwide.
UK customers remain unaffected by this change.
EU Customers post-Brexit January 2021.
Please note that as the UK has now left the EU, our parcels to the 27 EU countries are affected. We will continue to send you an invoice for the price of the books, and for shipping them. Our invoice does not include any Customs Duty, VAT, Inspection Charges, or any other charges that a particular country may impose. These are the customer's responsibility to pay.
As Sellers committed to offering reliable, competent and friendly service, all our items are offered in good faith and described to the best of our knowledge.To ensure clients enjoy risk free shopping, we operate a 100% purchase price money back guarantee if you are unhappy with your purchase. Postage costs cannot be refunded and the buyer must pay return postage costs. You may return an item within 14 days of receiving your goods; prior notice should be given by email. Provided items are returned in good, undamaged condition in the original packaging, the full purchase price will be refunded. Should returned items be found to be damaged, a percentage of the purchase price will be withheld. No returns will be accepted after a period of 14 days in the buyer’s possession. All items should be returned to the above address.
